Looks like Spurs are trying to land a huge prize in David Villa, the Valencia and Spanish international striker. The money, in upwards of $80 million, would come largely from selling Dimitar Berbatov to Manchester United, which has been suspected for some time now.
With Spanish boss Juande Ramos leading Tottenham, Villa is apparently interested in the move. Fielding such a star would increase the publicity as well as the talent at White Hart Lane, even if it meant losing Berbatov. Villa was one of the top players in Euro 2008 this summer and at 26 years old, is squarely in his prime.
We’ll see if Spurs can pull off the stunning move in the next few days, but what a prospect as the team winds down its preseason schedule this weekend and prepares for its opening EPL match at Middlesbrough.
