Steaua Marches On to Group Play

A  Banel Nicolita goal in the fifty-seventh minute has given Steaua a 1-0 win over Turkish power Galatasaray at the Stadionul Ghencea. That goal gave the Bucharest side a 3-2 victory on aggregate, with future fixtures to be determined in the upcoming group stage draw. Steaua will be looking to replicate their great successes of the mid and late 1980s in European competition, with the pinnacle being Helmuth Duckadam’s astonishing penalty shootout performance to give the Red and Blues the 1986 European Championship.
