Manchester United extended their lead over Liverpool on the Premier League table with a 3-0 destruction of Fulham today in a make-up game from early in the season. Paul Scholes, Dimitar Berbatov and Wayne Rooney all scored for the machine that is United. The difference is becoming evident between United and all the other clubs in England. Fulham are a top-ten club who have played reasonably well of late. Yet today they were simply tossed aside as if they were West Brom. So too the space between even the other top clubs is growing. Each match United wins (always by clean sheet at this point) is another statement of how much better they are. Now that the number of matches is even we see a five-point clearance at the top. I don’t expect that to last. I think it’ll be betwen 7 and 10 points by the end of March.
Regular schedule for the weekend. Look for my picks as well as the return of our man Philip Oliver to the fray.
