Yeah, you didn’t know the PGA was this weekend either, did you? Between the fact that the PGA is the least interesting of the four majors and that the Olympics begin in earnest Friday, baseball has several great division races going on and NFL training camp garnering more attention than ever, the PGA is going to have a tough time earning viewers. And with Tiger Woods still out, there’s even less incentive.
One thing the PGA does have going for it is the fact that Vijay Singh, Phil Mickelson and Retief Goosen all played very well at the Bridgestone Invitational in Akron (where my grandfather used to be the club manager) last weekend. These are names that should pique some interest. But really, with Opening Ceremonies and other Olympic events getting going, the casual sports fan will be otherwise occupied.
